Benitez says Liverpool can stop United

Sun 23 Mar, 03:40 AM

LONDON (Reuters) - Liverpool travel to Old Trafford on Sunday (1:30 p.m.) believing they can put the brakes on Manchester United's title charge.

While they are probably too far back to be serious contenders, Rafa Benitez's side are enjoying a seven-match winning streak in all competitions and the Spaniard is buoyant.

"We have the belief to go there and win. We are in a good moment now and we have more confidence and more players that can change the game," Benitez told his team's Web site (www.liverpoolfc.tv).

United are three points clear of Arsenal, who travel to third-placed Chelsea on Sunday (4 p.m.). Liverpool are fourth, 11 points off the pace.

Arsenal, in 2004, were the last visiting team to win a league game at Stamford Bridge and need a similar performance to get their challenge back on track after four consecutive draws.

"We've got the strength of character to win the title, believe me," manager Arsene Wenger told the club's Web site (www.arsenalfc.com).

"That's my belief, my firm belief and at the game on Sunday you will see."
