Irvine considers Ormerod recall

Tue 08 Apr, 05:00 PM

Preston boss Alan Irvine is considering recalling on-loan striker Brett Ormerod from Nottingham Forest to solve his shortage of frontmen. With Tamas Priskin on his way back to parent club Watford and Neil Mellor suffering with hamstring trouble, Irvine may be left with just two fit strikers for Saturday's game with Barnsley.

And he admits he could be forced to bring Ormerod back to Deepdale to boost his resources.

Speaking to the Lancashire Evening Post, Irvine said: "It is something I am going to have to consider.

"I haven't spoken to [Nottingham Forest manager] Colin Calderwood yet, or Brett.

"I need to contact both of them and make them aware that there is a possibility we may have to call him back.

"But we will look at that towards the end of the week."
