Tue 08 Apr, 04:30 PM

Notts County manager Ian McParland has told his players to remember they hold their destiny in their own hands as they look to secure safety. The Magpies are currently just three points clear of Mansfield in the relegation zone, but McParland believes his side are in a stronger position then their relegation rivals.

McParland said: "I'm telling the players we are in the driving seat. It is down to us.

"I have always said it's going to come down to the wire. I knew when I first came into this job it was going to be really, really tough and it hasn't surprised me."

After suffering a 2-1 defeat against Bury on Saturday McParland said he was upset with the level of performance but was not going to take it out on his players.

He added: "I keep looking at how we conceded the second goal and still cannot believe how it came about. I left the players alone over the weekend and let them have a think about things."
