Pugh salvages a point for Shrews

Tue 08 Apr, 11:30 PM

Marc Pugh salvaged a point for Shrewsbury at Morecambe as the league's most out-of-form sides fought out a 1-1 draw at Christie Park.Carl Baker opened the scoring for the home side with his 10th league goal of the campaign in the 32nd minute with a superbly taken free-kick from the edge of the area.

The Shrimps then came close to extending their lead when both Matty Blinkhorn and Henry McStay hit the woodwork with two successive efforts but Paul Simpson's struggling Shrewsbury, now without a win in 14 games, hit back.

Pugh equalised 20 minutes from time as he slotted home Dave Hibbert's left-wing cross and Simpson's men should have clinched a rare win but substitute James Constable missed two glorious opportunities to seal the points.
