United Not Rome And Dry - Brown

Tue 08 Apr, 08:09 AM

Wes Brown believes Manchester United still have work to do to reach the Champions League semi-finals.

The Barclays Premier League leaders would appear to be home and dry going into Wednesday night's quarter-final second leg against Roma at Old Trafford as they hold a 2-0 advantage.

England full-back Brown, however, remains on his guard, with either Barcelona or Schalke awaiting the winners.

He said: "It is easy to say we are through but Roma are a quality side. They could nick a goal.

"We have got to go into the second leg the way we did in the first game.

"It is important to be patient and when we get chances, we must punish them."

Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney capped a marvellous display by United at the Stadio Olimpico last week as they maintained their unbeaten record in Europe this season.

And the pair of them were back on target at the weekend in the 2-2 Premier League draw against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

Ronaldo has now weighed in with 37 goals and Rooney 16 as United go for glory on two fronts.

Brown said: "We know with the form of our front players, we will have chances to score.

"We kept our shape in Rome and they found it difficult to cope with the speed of our attacks.

"We set a good standard in Italy to get a great result. Not many teams win 2-0 there.

"We had a lot of the ball and a lot of possession.

"You could not ask for much more. It was up there with some of our best Champions League performances."

Former England midfielder Paul Scholes is poised to make his 100th Champions League appearance in the second leg.

Scholes has regained his form after a three-and-a-half-month absence with a knee injury.

He was impressive in Rome and is spurring United on after missing out on a winners' medal in 1999 through suspension.

Park Ji-Sung has been impressed with his team-mate's recent displays.

"Paul trains hard and the way he passes the ball is unbelievable," said the South Korea star.

"He always seems to find a team-mate. I am just happy to watch him and learn from him."
