Andy Murray has confirmed he will represent Great Britain at this summer's Olympic Games in Beijing.
Many of the world's top players are expected to take part in the event, despite it finishing just a week before the start of the final Major of the year, the US Open.
"I'm definitely going to play the Olympics," said the 20-year-old, who came in for criticism for pulling out of GB's crucial Davis Cup tie against Argentina in February. "It's something that not all athletes get the chance to do in their career.
"It's an honour to represent your country and I'm looking forward to it."
World number one Roger Federer, young Serb Novak Djokovic and Lleyton Hewitt of Australia have already confirmed that they will take part in the week-long hardcourt event.
Murray begins his preparations for the clay-court season this week and has high hopes of a successful couple of months after spending most of his teenage years at the Sanchez-Casal Academy in Barcelona.
He said: "I missed the whole of the clay court season last year because of my wrist injury so I'm hoping I can get a good run this year and not have any problems with injury.
"I practised on it a lot when I was younger and had good results on," he said. "When I went over to practice in Barcelona I won some tournaments on the clay so it's a court I can play well on.
"But I've hardly played on clay for the last couple of years so I'm going to try and get some good practice in and try and get used to it again."
