EXCLUSIVE! Everyone knows that Justine Henin is the best claycourt player on the planet, but who is the second best?
With the long road to Roland Garros kicking off this week in Amelia Island we at Eurosport Yahoo! have taken our calculators out and tallied up our annual claycourt rankings.
For the purposes of accuracy and science, we have included every clay event on the WTA calendar along with the past seven French Opens, and weighted everything in accordance with the level of each tournament.
Doing well at the French Open is worth double what a player would get for doing well at the three Tier I WTA events and a little more than triple the value of the Tier II-IV tournaments.
World number one and three-time defending Roland Garros champion Henin reins supreme, of course, in our first edition of 2008.
But world number two and French Open runner-up Ana Ivanovic is only third in the world of clay thanks to the brilliant spring her Serbian compatriot Jelena Jankovic put together last season.
Jankovic still has a long ways to go to catch the number one Henin, but thanks to titles in the Tier I Charleston and Rome events, along with a semi-finals appearance at Roland Garros, JJ is sitting pretty.
