MONTE CARLO (Reuters) - Former French Open champion Juan Carlos Ferrero recovered from a shaky start to reach the Monte Carlo Masters Series second round with a 6-7 6-1 6-1 win over Frenchman Michael Llodra on Monday.
The 13th-seeded Spaniard, who won in the principality in 2002 and 2003, next meets either Finn Jarkko Nieminen or France's Marc Gicquel.
Llodra took the first set in 61 minutes by winning the tie break 7-5 when Ferrero netted a backhand.
The Frenchman, however, collapsed and scored only 12 points in the second set. Ferrero stole Llodra's serve twice in the decider and wrapped up victory in just two hours.
Andy Murray, seeded 14th, was scheduled next on centre court against Spaniard Feliciano Lopez. Later on Monday, three-times French Open champion Gustavo Kuerten continues his farewell tour with a first-round match against Coratia's Ivan Ljubicic.
