Gray keen on adding firepower

Thu 08 May, 12:45 PM

Northampton boss Stuart Gray is eager to strengthen his strikeforce ahead of the new season as he looks to build on a successful campaign. After seeing the Cobblers finish in ninth place in League One, Gray has already pinpointed areas of his squad which need improving.

"I probably need to bring in two strikers but unfortunately good centre forwards don't come cheap," he told the club's official website.

"I've said to the chairman that I may need some money to spend in order to strengthen the team in that area, but it will be down to the wages as well.

"If a player becomes available that I think can strengthen the team, then I will make every effort to bring that player in."

Meanwhile, Cobblers coaches Jim Barron and Ian Sampson have extended their contracts at Sixfields for another two years.
