Tom Tate cemented his new partnership with Jim Hay as Mull Of Dubai sprinted clear in the 10-furlong Bank Of Ireland Handicap at Chester.
Hay dispersed all of his horses from Stan Moore's care at the turn of the year with Tate benefiting to the tune of five new additions.
He sent out his first winner in the pink and green colours as John Egan pinged clear off the bend to collect by a length.
Tate said of the 13-2 winner: "He is a really brilliant little horse and is so tough.
"He has won on faster ground and over a shorter trip than normal. I am just learning about him, but I like what I see."
Maraahel was denied an emotional fourth win in the Grant Thornton Huxley Stakes by Mick Channon's Championship Point.
The pair were involved in an early battle for the lead before Darryll Holland grabbed the initiative on Channon's five-year-old.
Richard Hills moved up menacingly on Maraahel a furlong out while Spice Route, Stotsfold and the disappointing favourite Multidimensional were never quite on terms.
But Championship Point (12-1) fought back gamely to win by a neck.
Holland told Channel 4 Racing: "He's one of my favourites, he's such a lovely horse and he really stuck his neck out today.
"There wasn't much pace in the race so I decided to go on and he is brave enough to do it. It's great to win here."
Channon, gaining some consolation for the luckless runs of Nahoodh and Som Tala recently, said: "We needed a change of luck and we have got that today.
"When I saw the ground drying out I knew we had to go again and it is great he has managed to win a Group race."
Hamdan Al Maktoum's racing manager Angus Gold said of Maraahel: "It was a good effort. He gave it his best and it is great to see he is still in good shape.
"Richard said he perhaps he got there a bit soon, but it is easy to be wise after the event.
"You could say the fact he hasn't had a race before coming here this year might have made a difference, but I am not using that as an excuse and he isn't exactly blowing the house down there.
"I've not discussed plans with Sir Michael (Stoute), but I guess we will follow a similar route to last year."
