Playmaker Samir Nasri has signed an extension to his contract with Marseille that will see him stay at the Stade Velodrome until 2012.

The 20-year-old France international has become one of the hottest properties in Europe after an impressive season with L'OM but the new deal ties him to his home town club for the immediate future.

Marseille have however included a £12 million buy out clause, retaining the option of an exit for the player while ensuring the club will receive adequate compensation should he decide to leave.

"An agreement has been reached on Wednesday regarding the extension of Samir Nasri's contract at L'OM until 2012," read a statement on the club's official website.

"The contract of the midfielder, educated at L'OM and who became a professional in 2004, was due to end in 2009."
