Brazil coach Dunga praised Ronaldo's progress in his latest comeback and said on Thursday the national team door was open for the 32-year-old striker.

Ronaldo has scored 10 goals in 13 games for Corinthians since recovering from last year's knee injury at AC Milan and joining the Sao Paulo-based club.

"It's the first time since 2006 that he has managed to play more than 10 games in a row, so the trend is for him to progress," Dunga said.

"Ronaldo has never stopped scoring goals," he added. "He knows his potential. There is one year between now and the World Cup for everyone to work and earn a chance."

The former AC Milan, Inter Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid striker has not played for Brazil since the 2006 World Cup, having been plagued by fitness and form problems.

Brazil's next games are next month's World Cup qualifiers in Uruguay and at home to Paraguay. Dunga is due to name his squad on May 21.

  1. Ronaldo was great, legendary, very rare skill and talent. very few great guys were in the class of this brazilian, but that was past!. sorry but that's reality. he had outlived his stardom.

but for brazil to be talking of ronaldo now speaks volume of the current state of talents in that country thought to be # 1 in production of football tallents over the year.

    i'm sorry for dunga

  4. He is the best! We have seen strikers and pretender strikers, ball escoters, oh sorry may be i should say finishers. Few are strikers, and it is only those that can dribble, run, be strong in the air and on the ground, yet manage to see the ball behind the net. In our present day, no striker, finisher or whatever name you want tpo give them, can match Roldado.stattistics are clearly, very clear. If he was a British, especially English his popularity would have surpased many English Greats.Buthe is a Brazilian ee? Ronaldo welcome back by Pacharo Malawi
