VIRGINIA WATER (Reuters) - A hole-in-one helped Miguel Angel Jimenez of Spain seize a share of the lead with Oliver Wilson midway through the PGA Championship final round on Sunday.

The 44-year-old Jimenez, bidding to become the third oldest winner of the European Tour's flagship event after the 46-year-old Dai Rees (1959) and the 45-year-old Arnold Palmer (1975), aced the 212-yard fifth hole.

His four-iron tee shot took two bounces before disappearing into the middle of the cup. The former Ryder Cup player also birdied the third, fourth and seventh and bogeyed the eighth to reach the turn in 31, four under.

Wilson matched Jimenez's front nine score at Wentworth after making inroads on par at the third, fourth, sixth and seventh.

The joint leaders were two strokes ahead of Luke Donald, who finished his round with three birdies in a row to compile a 65 for 279.

Alongside Donald on nine-under was Robert Karlsson of Sweden, who had led by four overnight.

The Swede was unable to replicate the form he showed on Saturday, mixing three bogeys with one birdie to be out in 37.
