LONDON (Reuters) - New Zealand won the toss and decided to bowl in the first of five one-day internationals against England, at Chester-le-Street, Durham.
England made one change from the team that thrashed the Kiwis on Friday evening in the one-off Twenty20 match by nine wickets, omitting Dimitri Mascarenhas in favour of their top-ranked test bowler Ryan Sidebottom.
New Zealand made two changes bringing in wicketkeeper Gareth Hopkins while Tim Southee has recovered from an ankle injury to replaces Mark Gillespie. Hopkins inclusion means Brendon McCullum will play solely as a batsman.
The Kiwis are missing their key all-rounder Jacob Oram, who injured a hamstring before Friday's game. They defeated England 3-1 in the 50-over one-day series in New Zealand in February, while England won the recent test series 2-0.
Teams:
England: Paul Collingwood (captain), Ian Bell, Luke Wright, Kevin Pietersen, Owais Shah, Ravi Bopara, Tim Ambrose, Graeme Swann, Stuart Broad, Ryan Sidebottom, James Anderson.
New Zealand: Daniel Vettori (captain), Jamie How, Brendon McCullum, Ross Taylor, James Marshall, Scott Styris, Daniel Flynn, Gareth Hopkins, Kyle Mills, Tim Southee, Michael Mason.
