Championship side Cardiff claim to have rejected seven-figure offers for midfielder Peter Whittingham and defender Roger Johnson.Uncompromising centre-half Johnson is believed to have attracted attention from two clubs, with Championship rivals Ipswich and an unnamed Premier League side rumoured to be leading the hunt.
Former Aston Villa winger Whittingham is a reported summer transfer target for Nottingham Forest.
The Bluebirds, who rounded off a memorable 2007/08 campaign with an FA Cup final appearance, are keen to build on their achievements of last term and are unwilling to part company with players they believe to be vital members of the squad.
Dave Jones' side are already resigned to losing teenage star Aaron Ramsey to a top flight suitor and are keen to ensure that the Ninian Park departures end there.
Chairman Peter Ridsdale has made it clear that he is unwilling to do business concerning Johnson and Whittingham, but feels that the interest in the duo proves the club are moving in the right direction.
"We're trying to keep the team together, not sell it," he said.
"The bids for Peter and Roger just shows how shrewd we've been in the transfer market.
"We bought both players for just a quarter-of-a-million and now we're rejecting bids of more than £1m for the both of them."
