Southampton manager Jan Poortvliet has likened new signing Lee Holmes to Real Madrid winger Arjen Robben.Holmes, 21, became Poortvliet's first Saints signing after arriving from Derby on Friday and the former Helmond Sport coach believes Holmes is capable of playing on a much greater stage.

"I think he will be a regular in our team," Poortvliet told the club's official website. "He can play higher than he has played so far.

"When I see him, I see Arjen Robben. He is capable of playing across the front-line and we might want to play three forwards so it's lovely to have him.

"When you play your first first-team game at 15 you must be a very good player and he looks an amazing player - he can dribble and centre, is quick and can score but his strongest asset is his vision."

"I don't know how many more signings I need to make. I have to watch the players, give them a chance and work with them and then know what we need."
