Durham edged closer to victory over Hampshire in Division One of the LV County Championship after a six-wicket haul from Steve Harmison.
The England paceman finished with six for 122 as the visitors were bowled out for 256 to leave Durham a target of 294 to win.
Despite the loss of Michael Di Venuto just before lunch, Durham reached tea on 92 for two with Will Smith (32 not out) and Neil McKenzie (27no) sharing an unbroken stand of 55.
Yorkshire opened up a 260-run advantage over leaders Somerset but the match in Taunton remains in the balance with four sessions to go.
The hosts' last-wicket pair of Craig Kieswetter (67 not out) and Charl Willoughby (18) put on 38 to take them to 258 - 114 behind.
But Andrew Gale (58), Anthony McGrath (21) and Adil Rashid (30) were the only players to make significant scores as the visitors went into the interval at 146 for seven.
Lancashire posted 39 without loss in their second innings to lead Nottinghamshire by 119 runs at tea.
An unbeaten 40 from Paul Franks, after Mark Wagh (94) and Adam Voges (55) had laid the foundations, allowed the visitors to get within 80 runs.
Justin Kemp hit 108 and James Tredwell 68 as Kent progressed to 308 for seven against Sussex in their rain-affected match at Canterbury.
Derbyshire lifted themselves away from the foot of Division Two with an innings-and-95-run victory over Worcestershire at Chesterfield.
The visitors resumed their second innings still 187 behind with nine wickets remaining but collapsed after some more inspired bowling from Graham Wagg.
Having taken four for 66 in the first innings, he bettered that with four for 53 while former England all-rounder Rikki Clarke claimed three for six in six overs as Worcestershire were dismissed for only 110.
An early tea was taken when Northamptonshire were bowled out for 329 - 146 behind Gloucestershire - after opener Stephen Peters (122) completed his century and Jon Lewis claimed four for 65.
Essex are in danger of slipping to an innings defeat against Middlesex after being reduced to 70 for three - still 352 behind - at Lord's.
The hosts posted 583 all out - Eoin Morgan making 96, Ben Scott 60 and Gareth Berg 35 - to put themselves in a strong position.
Glamorgan are still 69 runs in arrears in their second innings after being asked to follow on having been dismissed by Warwickshire for 248 as James Anyon finished with six for 82.
Gareth Rees and Matthew Wood both made 31 second time around as the hosts reached 104 for three.
