Ding had the advantage of playing in front of a partisan crowd in his hometown of Wuxi City, but it was Allen who felt more at home from the start of a one-sided match.

Breaks of 40 and 64 gave the Ulsterman the first frame, and he added further breaks of 71 and 74 in the next two to open a 3-0 lead, with the Chinese player scoring just 27 points in three frames.

Ding looked as if he might fight back, but was unable to maintain his concentration. He produced breaks of 37 and 32 in the fourth and fifth frames respectively, but each time slipped up to allow Allen back in to make the decisive score.

A break of 58 in the sixth and final frame completed the whitewash by the world championship semi-finalist and secured him the maiden title of his four-year professional career.

"Although this isn't a ranking tournament, it still means a lot to me, to get my first professional title under my belt," said Allen.

"It's been a long season and I came here very sharp, especially after the confidence I got by getting to the semi-finals at Sheffield.

"Having won this tournament I'll go into next season feeling very good. I've shown that I can handle myself on the big stage and I hope that this title is the start of things to come."
