Premier League - NBA wants Premier tie-up

The National Basketball Association and the Premier League are in talks over a marketing and commercial tie-up, the Financial Times claims.

Representatives from the leagues met in London to discuss how they might work together and compared notes on their respective media rights strategies, particularly in Asia, the paper said.

"We are unapologetic imitators," the paper quoted NBA Commissioner David Stern as saying.

"The Premier League's ability to negotiate their (media) deals and the way they split their packages (of media rights) ... is something we can learn from."

The NBA and Premier League could not be immediately reached for comment by Reuters.

  2. They could jazz things up in the NBA by having all the­ players wear tinsel headbands. The EPL is a success­ because the football is unpredictable and full of­ drama, coupled with the best players in the world and­ great coverage. From what i can gather basket ball has­ around 150 points a match! Dont get me wrong i like a­ high scoring match but that would just get boring.­ Maybe they could play on ice, no ive got it! the basket­ ball hoops could be giant onion rings and the ball­ could be a huge piece of popcorn chicken.Get KFC to­ sponsor it. Problem solved.

  3. I agree with comment #8. The NBA is terrible now. It­ hasn't been good since the Jordan era. Not sure­ what's the point of this partnership. Davis Stern­ is a complete moron. He should be dealing with why the­ television ratings for the sport is low and why did the­ league lose money. Those are more pressing issues for­ the NBA. He should also try to make the NBA just as­ exciting as the EPL. I'd rather watch any EPL game­ over any NBA game anytime. As for comment #7, pg-point­ guard, sg-shooting guard, sf-small forward, pf-power­ forward and c-center.
