Mandaric: Redknapp the right man

Former Portsmouth owner Milan Mandaric has recommended Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp to Sulaiman Al Fahim.

Al Fahim, who fronts the proposed takeover of Pompey, will have to appoint a new manager if he takes control of the club as Paul Hart was appointed until the end of the season.

Mandaric told The News: "Harry Redknapp is a fantastic manager. He knows and understands the game far better than most."

He added: "He's a top manager and the right manager for Portsmouth. I rate him so highly.

"Managing people is his best quality. He's not perfect and sometimes he would drive me crazy, but that quality always prevails."

He added: "You've got to do the right thing and if bringing Harry to the club is what he needs to do, that is what he has to do."

    Harry Redknapp has big plans­ at Spurs and big money to do it with. He'd be­ stupid to go backwards to a club like pompy.

This Al­ Fahim fella said he was gonna listen to what the fans­ wanted and they don't want Harry back, so he's­ not gonna pi55 everyone off by getting him back!! All­ this is someone making a comment about something thats­ none of his business, just like when Sven said he was­ interested and where is he now Sporting Lisbon!!!!!! By­ all accounts Al Fahim wants either Roberto Mancinni or­ Slaven Bilic for the job.

  10. 2 steps forward and 3 back if we take back harry, he­ WAS a legend at fratton but that needs to stay a­ memory, we can never thank him enough for what he done­ for our club but i still dont want him back, im sure­ avram can do just as good a job for us, harry has broke­ too many hearts in pompey for us to give him the 100%­ support pompey need plus im looking forward to beaten­ his spurs next season with our shiny new squad!   15. Harry's probably on holiday somewhere, and even if­ he was around he probably wouldn't even comment, as­ it doesn't make a lot of sense. Mandaric is only­ playing a game by paying him compliments.
    Why would­ Harry return to a club he's managed twice­ already... and only been at his current club Spurs less­ than a whole season, and only just starting to shape­ his own squad.
    On the comment about Spurs being broke -­ I have no idea what you're on but Spurs are still­ being paid for Carrick and Berbatov, and are set to­ offload a lot of unwanted players over the summer­ too... since when do the papers tell the whole truth...

  16. I've been a pomey fan for over 40 years, Harry­ Redknapp was the best manager we've ever had, but­ people need to realise it's a job for these guys. I­ don't work for the same company I started with and­ I would move if the money was right, so would anyone­ else, wake up! Harry was great and within 5 minutes he­ would be forgiven and welcomed back. I dont see it­ happening but let's cut out all this cr&p about­ loyalty etc. It's only mugs like us supporters who­ show loyalty, the rest just want a pay day.

  17. This rumour's been kicking about for a while, I­ can't help but think Redknapp's comment on it­ is noticable by it's absence... he's not one to­ go shy for the papers unless it's a breach of­ contract...

    I reckon he's back off to Portsmouth.­ I've found myself complaining about him a fair bit­ of late, but I'll be really disappointed if he­ goes.
