Milan: Kaka signs for Real

Tue 09 Jun, 12:25 AM

AC Milan have confirmed the sale of Kaka to Real Madrid in what is expected to be a world-record transfer.

The Brazil superstar was due to reveal the move at a press conference scheduled for 1am BST, after undergoing a medical in his homeland earlier today.

However, the Serie A side have moved first to confirm the departure of the 27-year-old for the Bernabeu, with reports suggesting he has signed a six-year contract.

A statement on the Milan website read: "From next season, Kaka will play at Real Madrid.

"AC Milan thanked the man and the great champion Kaka for his decisive contribution to the many victories achieved in the six years of his commitment. The loss of technique, while serious, can be remedied.

"It will be very difficult to fill the void that will be left by Kaka, a shining example of professionalism, commitment and professionalism.

"AC Milan, (according to) the wishes of the managers, players and supporters of the Rossoneri, offer him the most cordial and affectionate wishes for the continuation of his sporting career."

Madrid also confirmed the deal on their website.

"Kaka is a player of Real Madrid after an agreement with AC Milan," a statement read."The Brazilian footballer has now successfully passed all medical tests. Kaka has signed a contract for the next six seasons with Real Madrid."

Reports have suggested Kaka, who was also earlier linked with Chelsea, has signed for around 68 million euros (£59million) - which, if true, would smash the world record fee of £46.7million paid by Real to Juventus for Zinedine Zidane in 2001.

  2. As a Milan supporter this day saddens me. It is extremely dissapointing to see a champion being forced out of our club. What is more aggrevating is to see the club officials justifying it due to economic reasons. Why wasn't the economic situation of the club thought of when we signed and resigned players past their prime and peek. We played our best football with Kaka in the team. I hope for all the Milan fans we sign some very talented players with the money from the sale but from the recent transfer dealings we have been involved in I seriously doubt it

  3. The sale was obviously forced since Milan NEED the money.
I'm sure they wanted to snap Man City's original bid up, but Kaka, being Brazilian, obviously has a spot in his heart for Madrid, even if they aren't one of the top teams in Europe anymore.
Even so, it will be interesting to see who else Madrid sign. They desperately need a solid defense and possibily a worldclass striker since Nistelrooy and Raul are on their last legs.

  5. IS GD TO SEE KAKA TRY OUT NEW CLUB TO SEE CAN HE PLAY FOR A DIFFERENT FORMATION N SUCH..WHERE THIS CAN PUSH HIM EVEN IN A HIGHER STANDARD WHERE HE ALREADY HAVE[IF HE CAN GET USE TO THE TEAM QUICKLY]..BUT THE ONLY THING I WORRIED IS THAT HE MIGHT RUIN HIS CAREER LIKE OWEN DID..
