Sevilla interested in Zokora

Sevilla have confirmed they are interested in signing Tottenham midfielder Didier Zokora at the right price.

The 28-year-old, who has struggled for regular football at White Hart Lane since the arrival of Wilson Palacios in January, has been tipped as one of the players Spurs boss Harry Redknapp could sell to raise money for transfers.

Sevilla sporting director Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo, known as Monchi, told AS: "Zokora is a great player. I have followed him since we first saw him and could not pay for him. We know that we have to be realistic in this current economic climate."

Redknapp, who was interested in Gareth Barry before the England midfielder signed for Manchester City, is understood to be monitoring Ruud van Nistelrooy's situation at Real Madrid but the former Manchester United striker's fitness could be a concern.

Wigan defender Paul Scharner, meanwhile, has been quoted in Germany claiming Tottenham are among the clubs interested in his signature.

  4. I'll be sad to see him go, he might not be a regular first team choice but neither was Malbranque and remember how much we saw the need for Steed at the beginning of this season.

If he does go, and I think he will, all the best to him - he's been exactly what we've needed him to his entire time with the club. Fingers crossed he's still with us for some of the friendlies and he gets his much coveted first goal in a Spurs shirt.
