Enrique recently resigned as manager of Barcelona B and will now be appointed successor to caretaker Vincenzo Montella at Stadio Olimpico, despite being linked with Atletico Madrid.

The Spaniard, who represented Barca with distinction over eight years as a player, will reportedly be assisted by former team-mate Ivan De La Pena, who played for Roma's rivals Lazio during his playing career.

"The agreement with Roma is total," said Luis Enrique to Sky Italia. "The only thing that is missing is the signature.

"In the next few days I will arrive in the Italian capital. I am delighted and enthusiastic to have joined a winning project.

"I am a winner and I have chosen a winning project, otherwise I would not have left my family and my role here (in Barcelona).

"My style of football is an attacking one and a spectacular one. I want to bring so many people to the stadium. I want the fans to enjoy the team's play.

"No one knows me in Italy but in one year's time, I will be able to clear any doubts. Facts will speak for themselves. With regards to the transfer market, I will try to work with the best."
