Cardiff have completed the signing of Michael Chopra from Sunderland for a club-record fee.
Chopra joined Sunderland from the Bluebirds in the summer of 2007 but failed to pin down a first-team place at the Stadium of light and twice returned to the Welsh capital on loan.
The striker's most recent loan deal at the Championship side expired at the end of last season but Cardiff have now exercised their option to buy the 25-year-old for a fee believed to be in the region of £4 million.
"I'm really glad it's all sorted now and, like all the other lads, I'm excited and determined to go that extra mile to gain promotion," Chopra told the club's website.
"We are putting 110% into training and there is a good feeling within the squad.
"The new stadium looks magnificent and the lads can't wait for the opener against Scunthorpe.
"These are exciting times for Cardiff and I'm really glad to now be a part of this."
Chopra, who agreed to a three-year contract, is the third player to sign for Cardiff this week, after the arrival of centre-backs Mark Hudson and Anthony Gerrard.
Meanwhile, full-back Paul Quinn is also expected to complete his move from Motherwell in the coming days.

Good Riddance. Enough said.
A tip for Cardiff - don't play the waste of space against NUFC in either game next season - the only goal he is likely to score will be an own goal.
"WHATS THAT COMING OVER THE HILL - ITS MICHAEL CHOPRA, ITS MICHAEL CHOPRA"
if we got 4m back of the 5.5m we spent on him we've done well he isn't premiership class but is ok in championship just don't play him when u play newcastle
some very negative comments from all the north eastern losers. chops has nothing to prove at championship
level. he s scored goals b4 & will again. he showed promise in prem at newcastle when he had a half decent side around him. after doing well with blue birds he made entirely the wrong move to a team who just don t cut it at top level.
Less than average player. Talk is easy, doing is harder. 110%, what a laugh.
Cardiff going for promotion? whats the point they just spent £4mill on this bag of waste who has proven he cant cut the mustard at that level!! if they go up next year they will have sell Chopra and buy someone else does not make sense.
Good to see he's gonna give 110% that would be 100% more than what he gave for us.Too slow, too limited, will score goals (10 max) in the Championship but not at a higher level.Saying that, wish him luck.
not worth 4 million, could have got a few more players for that.
He is poo.
lets see what happens if he's clean through on goal V newcatle. will he bottle it again???? but good luck to him after all his trouble, bashing his wife and turning up to training p issed as a f art. still better than Ameobi tho.
Welcome back son, lets earn the money now
4-1 even chopra scored!!
Should have been given more of a chance at Newcastle why they persevered with Ameobi is beyond me.
Goal machine..
Good luck to the lad.
