Scunthorpe have completed the signing of York midfielder Martyn Woolford for an undisclosed fee ahead of the new campaign. The 22-year-old has agreed a three-year deal at Glanford Park but will have to wait to make his debut due to a cut cheek.
Woolford, who began his career with Frickley, won the Player of the Year award at the KitKat Crescent last season and becomes Nigel Adkins' fifth summer signing.
"Martyn has attracted a lot of interest pre-season. He was offered an extended contract by York City in June, but did not sign it as he wished to keep his options open," York communications director Sophie Hicks told the club's official website.
"Scunthorpe United made the club a very good offer for Martyn and he was also keen to join them in order to further his football ambitions. Martyn's current contract was due to end next summer and we therefore felt it was best for the club to accept Scunthorpe's offer."
