Richardson sweating over strikers

Fri 08 Aug, 04:15 PM

Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson has just two strikers available for his side's League Two opener at Barnet on Saturday afternoon.Jamie Ward and Jack Lester are expected to lead the line in north London and two other players should be passed fit.

Skipper Rob Page has overcome the hip problem he sustained when a Burton player fell on him last Saturday and midfielder Jamie Lowry has shaken off the blisters that caused him to miss the trip to the Pirelli Stadium.

That means there are likely to be few surprises in the team selection.

Debuts are likely for keeper Tommy Lee, defenders Page, Kevin Austin and Alan Goodall, plus midfielders Paul Harsley and Darren Currie.

Lloyd Kerry is expected to get the nod ahead of Derek Niven in the centre of the park while new-boy Danny Hall will have to be satisfied with a place on the bench.
