England's women will send a development squad to play Germany in two Test matches next month.
With all members of the Great Britain side which finished fifth at the Olympics rested only five players of the 17 travelling to Hamburg have represented England at senior level before, although two have made appearances for GB.
Most have been picked from the under-21 squad which won the bronze medal at the recent EuroHockey Junior Nations Championships in Valencia.
"Members of the 2008 Olympic squad have been given a period of recovery and we will be looking hard at who, in this group, takes the opportunity to push for consideration in the new cycle," said coach Danny Kerry.
The two matches - played during the men's Hamburg Masters tournament - will be held on October 2 and 3.
