India batsman Sourav Ganguly's international future is hanging in the balance.
The 36-year-old was omitted from the Rest of India squad chosen to face Ranji Trophy winners Delhi in the five-day Irani Cup game from September 24.
Ganguly was among the senior batsmen who fared poorly in last month's 2-1 Test series defeat in Sri Lanka.
Irani Cup performances are likely to form the basis for selecting the squad for the four-Test home series against Australia starting early next month.

There is no full stop in sourav's career.no one can contain sourav & his ultimate desire,so what next......?
A fantastic player, but now is out of form perhaps because of his age.He should be retired from ODI to provide oppurtunity to young talents like Uthhapa,Raina, etc. So he should concentrate himself on Test Creket and stop playing bad shorts.
There has been too much cricket events in the past three years. Players are overwhelmed
with cricket...cricket..cricket!Most of the older players and younger players have been stressed out and burnt out!So a little break...a couple of pujas...some dachna to the poor will help Ganguly....Money is important...but taking a break and serving society a little will undoubtedly make him a better cricketer!
Ohhhh Ganguly! Such a fine player of the cricket ball but I guess old age is playing a part on his performance. I think he should retire and personally him playing test matches would benefit the younger members of the team. And then maybe on performance the ones who play dirty politics may allow him back on the team!
But does he deserve it? Answer... Not sure. I think money has messed-up his head!
He is undoubtedly a "Great player"
he is the most successfull captain after Md Azarrudin. He is worthy of the test spot in the indian team anytime he is next only to sachin in india. Its all pitty politics from the selectors.Shame on them.
