The 32-year-old midfielder (pictured with Clarence Seedorf) had been in negotiations for months but failed to land a longer deal.

New coach Leonardo started Ambrosini on the bench for Milan's two league games this term, including the 4-0 derby hammering by Internazionale, while Italy boss Marcello Lippi continues to overlook him.

Ambrosini took the armband from Paolo Maldini, who retired from football at the end of last season.

  2. Milan need to at least match Inter in the transfer market. They need a goalkeeper, centre half to play alongside Nesta, central midfielder, at least another 2 quality strikers..Inter got Eto, we got Huntalaar. real madrid's 4th striker?..thats not good enough to win Serie A never mind do anything in the Champions League.
