Hughes seeks striking solution

Manchester City look like facing the first test of their impressive squad on Saturday, with both Robinho and Carlos Tevez doubtful for the Barclays Premier League clash with Arsenal.

Blues boss Mark Hughes already knew Robinho had picked up a thigh injury in the blockbuster World Cup clash between Brazil and Argentina on Saturday.

Now the Argentinian Football Association have confirmed Tevez suffered a twisted right knee in his country's 3-1 defeat in Buenos Aires.

Tevez has now been ruled out of Wednesday's encounter with Paraguay in Asuncion, which Argentina need to win to avoid their qualification hopes slipping out of their own hands.

In all probability, the pair might only have been on the bench against the Gunners this weekend given they are not due back from South America until Friday.

However, it means Hughes might have to juggle his vast resources.

Providing he returns from international duty with Wales in Russia without a problem, Craig Bellamy will probably start.

Zimbabwe international Benjani could also be involved, although a more likely choice would be Holland's Nigel de Jong, who has yet to start a match this term.

  1. 4 midfielders-v-Barry? What about City's best player, Stevie Ireland and a certain Nigel De Jong, a full Dutch international? Zabaleta can play a bit too, silly boy.

We beat the Gooners' 3 - 0 last season with that Team, and one good goal wrongfully dis-allowed then, I doubt the Gooners' will do any better this time.
