Zubar in contention for Goodison trip

Thu, 08 Oct 17:11:12 2009

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has suggested defender Ronald Zubar could finally come into his plans for next Saturday's clash with Everton.

The 24-year-old, signed from Marseille for £2.5million this summer, has yet to feature in the Premier League and made his only appearance to date in the Carling Cup clash with Swindon last month.

But the former France Under-21 international could be involved at Goodison Park - either in his most natural position of centre-half, or at full-back.

McCarthy told the club's official website: "Ronald has looked great in training - it might be that he's ready to play against Everton.

"When he came here, it just didn't happen for him and he didn't look as sharp as he'd have wanted. He wasn't ready to play, but he's looking a hell of a lot better now. He's training brilliantly and he looks a far, far better player. He's now looking like the player I bought when I signed him.

"The players in central defence haven't done badly but, as I said to them, `it doesn't matter how well people are doing, we can't keep losing games'. We've got a squad of players and Zubar has played everywhere across the back four when he was at Marseille."

  1. Guys you missed my point, I do get behind our team hence the year on year season ticket.
Was away at sea for the early bird !!!!!
We all want whats best for the team, but blindly following a team which you guys know isnt good enough is ridiculas.
All we are passing on too poxey is we are happy enough dont worry about it.
We need more investment and as you both know we were promised the earth.
The players im on about at newcastle and middles are Tuncay (stoke?), Ryan shawcross Alan smith who yes is injury prone i know but when fit looks quality. Taylor is a great player, duff would have sorted our left hand Jarvis problem. Kevin Nolan, even bloody Barton.
Im just saying with a few more quid spent we could be a reasonable prem middle table team. Hennesy, Mancienne (although heard today being recalled at xmas) Berra, maybe foley, castilio, doyle, even halford for his throws, and maybe ebanks when fit, is the basis of a good team. Add a smith, Tuncay, shawcross, nolan, and you have a good team.
    Come on me babies!!!

  2. South bank is the only stand that makes any noise anyway!
Now Mr.Poxey says we have to sit down and basically sound like the grave yard opposite that is the north bank full of moaners about how great wolves were in the 60's, and the steve bull that gets a half arsed chant of 'steve bull' once a game.
No wonder we lose at home! we are awful home support! When away, we outsing the home fans? wanna know why? cause we stand!

  3. Stop your moaning, lets get behind the team, yes maybe we havent spent a fortune, but I believe we have a very good young side with alot of potential. If we just got behind the lads and didnt make molinuex such a graveyard to play in then maybe we could push on in the league. its you moany type wolves fans who let the players down and the rest of us down, the away game at wigan was the best wolves game av seen in years, the fans got propa behind the team. the opposition doesn't like it when we get behind the lads and get rowdy fact they look nervous. I think we will pick up more points away this season than at home.

david w 650 quid for a season ticket what stand are you in? mines 355 early bird ha ha, i dont think we should try comparing ourselves with newcastle and middlesbourough, they overspent when they were in prem bought a load of @#$% overrated players for alot of money on ridiculous wages, they sat back and look where its got them. I like our foundation we are not in debt.

For the last 12 years i have been paying in excess of £450 and peaking at 650 this year to watch this. I sit there week in and week out hoping for something better, it never comes and why is that.
Because of people like yourself allowing our board to scrimp and save buying 2nd rate players who are no where near good enough.
Have you actually sat and watched Milijas, or surman???
We have paid out what for our club is a small fortune and they are total rubbish. We did it last time in the prem and same again.
We refuse to pay the higher wages and take this risk on staying up. The newcastle and middlesborough teams were full of prem standard players. How many did we sign??? NONE
We raided reading (not to bad) and southampton, who lets not forget were relegated to league 1. Where did the 60 mil promised "when we get promoted" 30 mil tv money and 30 mil chairman was meant to put in as part of the sale from sir jack.?????
As for negative ?? I will be the first one there singing the boys on next week, and still after the shambles we have watched so far i have not heard one member of the crowd turn on them.
However if maybe your hardcore of fans pushed the board to spend another 20 mil at xmas we might have half a chance of staying up rather than board the bus to doncaster or colchester on a wet december night!!!!!!

  5. David W, no offence, but you are typical of half of Wolves's problem, you negative fans who just whinge the whole time make our players nervous and gets the worst out of them. You might have a point that our squad isn't as strong as it should be, but is Burnleys?? they are doing well because they have high confidence and massive support at home, how about actually supporting your team rather than just getting on at them. it does my head in. Do you really think you help??

  6. Bran do you go???
Have you watched us this yr??
No we could be routed in it. We 100% will be.
We have 3 players, Doyle, Castilio, and Mancienne when he feels like it. The rest are championship at best.
Is that micks fault?? Not sure. Mijilias so slow its painfull, pace and thinking a complete waste of money, Zubar looks same, Maierhoffer to slow and unbelivebly cant head a ball. Surman reserves at best, i think of the money spent only doyle and maybe halford (throws) and the loans of MM and Castilio have owrked the rest are absolute rubbish.
How we got out the championship is a miricale!

  7. Try Everything Mick , I`m Worried It`s Slipping Away From You. With The Matches Coming Up We Could Be Routed To The Bottom By December.Come On You Wolves Start Playing Out Of Your Skins.
