Premier League - Buffon 'not going to Manchester'
Juventus have denied reports that goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is set to move to Manchester United.
Italian media have reported that United are to make a £15 million offer for the Italy keeper in January as they seek a replacement for Edwin van der Sar, who turns 40 this month and is widely expected to retire at the end of the season.
Manchester City and Bayern Munich were linked with a move for the 32-year-old earlier this year, but Juve director Giuseppe Marotta insists that the shot-stopper is not for sale.
"I deny any negotiation with United, Buffon is a Juventus player," Marotta told Turin newspaper Tuttosport.
Buffon's agent Silvano Martina also rubbished the reports, adding that the player's current back injury would make any talk of a move impossible.
"These transfer rumours make no sense," he said. "Buffon has been sidelined for three months so who would want an injured player?
"Moreover, it seems to me that the best player at United so far has been Van der Sar."
