Blyth Spartans and Histon knocked out League Two sides Shrewsbury and Swindon respectively but Leicester saw off Stevenage in the FA Cup first round.

A first-half double from Shaun Reay gave Blyth Spartans a prized scalp as they beat League Two high-flyers Shrewsbury 3-1 at Croft Park.

The deadlock was broken after just 31 seconds as Robbie Dale's precise through ball released Reay and the striker calmly curled the ball beyond the onrushing Glyn Garner from 12 yards.

Shrewsbury huffed and puffed in an attempt to get back on level terms but despite the threat of Chris Humphrey on the right the final ball was too often lacking for the visitors.

Conference North side Blyth doubled their lead in the 27th minute as a mistake from Shrewsbury's Steve Leslie allowed Reay a clear run on goal and the 19-year-old produced a clinical finish in to the bottom corner from just inside the penalty box.

Blyth extended their lead six minutes after the restart as Gareth Williams' free-kick was only half cleared as far as Dale and the striker hooked the ball back in to the box for Andy Leeson to bundle home from close range.

The League Two side pulled one back in the 67th minute as Paul Murray's free-kick was flicked in by Grant Holt but there was to be no dramatic comeback.

Leicester City displayed some clinical finishing to earn a 3-0 home win against Stevenage Borough.

The Blue Square Premier side had their moments early on with Steve Morison nearly taking advantage of a badly hit backpass from Aleksandar Tunchev.

Morison then dragged a shot wide of the post before City opened the scoring in the 37th minute when Matty Fryatt beat two defenders on the right before crossing for Lloyd Dyer to score with a crisp drive.

Chris Day kept Borough's hopes alive after the restart with quality saves to deny first Fryatt and then Matt Oakley.

But the keeper was beaten after 52 minutes as Dyer raced down the left before finding Fryatt who scored with a carefully placed shot from just inside the area.

Leicester wrapped up the game with 21 minutes remaining when Andy King (pictured) spotted the keeper off his line to score with a spectacular 25-yard lob which went in off the bar.
