Manchester City boss Mark Hughes was dismayed by his side's inability to kill off Burnley after fighting their way into the lead.
Manchester City 3 - 3 Burnley
City manager Mark Hughes: "We certainly don't expect to concede three at home, and we need to address that. It is frustrating and disappointing because we got ourselves into a winning position.
"We have to learn to see games out because we have drawn two games at home from winning positions. Maybe it was a consequence of the effort we put in before that, because we worked exceptionally hard to get ourselves in front."
Burnley manager Owen Coyle: "(Getting our first away point) is a monkey off our backs. Funnily enough, I felt very comfortable at 2-0. I would have loved to get to half-time in that position.
"We are on a learning curve and if we had been an experienced Premier League team we would have seen it off.
"There is an unbelievable spirit in our dressing room. We are the smallest town to be in the Premier League, but we are determined to give this a real fight."
Blackburn Rovers 3 - 1 Portsmouth
Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce: (On making two half-time substitutions) "I don't normally get so radical at half-time but it was our worst first-half performance this season and the fans rightly showed their displeasure.
"It boiled down to the players not coping with Pompey's system so we took our wide men off and matched it. It worked tremendously well and it got us another important victory."
Portsmouth manager Paul Hart: "If you don't defend set pieces against Blackburn you are really in trouble - but we had defended them magnificently in the first half and played well. We were in control and they had put us in no real trouble.
"I don't think we've been undone by any great genius, we've been done on set pieces. This is a setback but we're used to picking ourselves up and we'll do it again."
Aston Villa 5 - 1 Bolton Wanderers
Villa manager Martin O'Neill: "I was concerned beforehand because we were really down after the West Ham match on Wednesday... but the players started brightly, maintained that, the crowd were enthused by the performance and stayed with us throughout.
"John (Carew) played very well today. You do get performances like that from him when he is absolutely brilliant. But then in other matches he is not as strong. We are looking for that consistency from him."
Bolton manager Gary Megson: "They haven't had to work hard for the goals they've got. It's not acceptable and nowhere near good enough from our players. You have to accept that squads like Villa might pass the ball better. But you still have to match them for desire.
"I feel sorry for our goalkeeper (Jussi Jaaskelainen) because he played well and did not deserve to get beaten five times... Of our outfield players, none got close to what I would expect from them. If we can't sort it out with what we have already got, then we will need to change things a bit."
Tottenham Hotspur 2 - 0 Sunderland
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp: "We were very fortunate, the keeper's had a fantastic day but that's how it goes. We got three points, you can play well and get nothing.
(On breaking in to the top four): "The top four are very, very strong obviously, and I think ourselves, (Aston) Villa and (Manchester) City will all be having a go at breaking in. There's no reason you can't do it. It's not impossible to do."
Sunderland manager Steve Bruce: "Anybody who witnessed that today will know that we should have got something. We were terrific, (but) sometimes in football you have a day like today - since the beach ball incident at Liverpool we've run out of luck and we've been out of luck again today.
"The turning point today was the second-half penalty incident. Darren Bent was through on goal, it's a goal-scoring opportunity, and by the letter of the law their keeper should be sent off... we would have been playing against 10 men with half an hour to go so that would have given us a huge advantage."
Wolves 1-4 Arsenal
Wolves manager Mick McCarthey: "Our season won't be judged by games against Arsenal. We have Birmingham coming up and that is the type of game we have to win. Hull, West Ham and Portsmouth are the teams in and around us and matches with them will be important.
"We were outstanding for 30 minutes and took Arsenal on but mistakes have cost us. But I know the crowd appreciate the hard work the team put in and the way they tried to play."
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "Wolves had a strong start, but once we came in to the game we controlled it all the way through.
(On people thinking of Arsenal as title contenders): "I don't know what people are thinking, the most important thing is that we can believe we can win it. Our belief is there. We have great potential and we can go from strength to strength."

we r definately gonna win the league and put the red manc half in their place
please could u give us king carlos back i miss him ssoooooo much
Daz. A man u fan with a sense of humour! I slute you sir.
City got some good results from poor performances at the start of the season. After the epic Manchester derby it is like the fight has gone out of them. They must do better, Burnley was a disaster, the defence was very poor. We bought some top players, but Bridge is not one of them. He couldn't get a game at Chelsea and he shouldn't be getting one with us.
we was wrong to let tevez go i love him and the tevez on here at least u lot got an atmosphere at eastlands
i hope city win the league and knock us off our perch after all they r the biggest team in manchester
Sir Fergie was right about Tevez as he is not worth his salt, nice player at odd times - but not stable and too womanly in his male make-up. He is still crying acid drops from Fergie's rejection and cannot take it like a man.
tonyjoe79, you are a frustrated soul looking to console yourself. do not die of heart failure with mancity. having watched the game, does it look to you that that is a team in the making? no style, no blend, only kick and follow and individual attributes. you cant even find any flair or attractions. they have two over rated defenders-lescot and toure and they both gave away the two burnley goals. what has happened to adebayor? was arsenal right? where is robihno, did tevez forget his magic touch at westham or manu? what about the noise of gareth and over hypped micah? this is only the begining of your problem in mancity. just wait till african cup of nation and you will know what has hit your team. money cant buy it. chelsea was already a top four team before the russian suge. mancity can't be the same. mark hughes is not the best manager for mancity. he is a mid table manager like HR, Cubishly, Erickson, Alladyce, souness, bruce etc
CITY PLAY LIVERPOOL AFTER THE INTERNATIONAL BREAK AND I THINK LIVERPOOL WILL WIN .EASY
Since the arabs took over, i have come to despise EVERYTHING man city football club stands for. I hope they win nowt.
Zeeeeezzzzz - is there any point to having a comments section if it's just full of spam??
Tony Joe....really you are the first City fan that makes sense in this blogs........you have a point.....you understand that....but Hughes, Adebayor, Tevez and most of your fans DONT!!!! Talking football wise you have a strong side...and yes you are there putting the pressure and it takes time to build up a team.......
Hughes.....you are actually alright......but what about Adebayor¿?.....LOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL You can keep Toure as well....we trained them for you........and they dont deliver.....LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL ....You Man city really suck.. you guys dont even play the europa league and you get battered......Imagine if you would do that.....no chance my friend...NOOOO CHANCCCEEEEE......Wuahahahahahahahahahahaha........
I am City fan. Think Most clubs and our own fans are forgetting some things that are very obvious to those who are in the game and that is we are a team in the making and not the finished article! Yes we should have the ability to see games out, but that said we are not and we are getting more than our fair share of draws, but there is still only one side that has beaten us(trafford rangers :-) ) and if we win the game in hand, we are still in the top four! Look at where we were and where we are heading and the old adage of Rome was not built in a day! City fans have got a little carried away with the early season success and maybe expect us to win this league, which could happen but i don't think it will for another season or two. Personally i am happy we are frightening the so called top four, challenging for a place at the top table. Remember Sir taggart took nearly three years to turn Utd around and into a successful side and i would see the same time scale for us. City fans have to have faith and stop looking for the instant success, success "which will come" soon if we are patient!!
Hughes, you are not a good manager of players full stop. You were a very good footballer, but it hasn't followed for you,so just leave.
i bet burnley are more pee'd off at not killing off man city after been 2 goals up
is arsenal better than man city
yes-thumbs up
no-thumbs down
CHELSEA S.@#$%
I as a man utd fan will always hold abundace of respect for mark hughes , but as for city I dont as you would expect and well done to Burnley Im sure it will prove a vital point. The problem with City its not working right now as a complete package but it will given time but thats the problem Hughes dosent have that time and I dont think he is quite ready yet and dont think he will get the chance beyond this season.
