England manager Fabio Capello has snubbed Michael Owen and David James in his squad to face Brazil in Doha next weekend - but there is an international call-up for Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone.
Sunderland striker Darren Bent has been recalled to the England squad for next Saturday's friendly - despite missing a penalty in front of England coach Fabio Capello.
Bent has been in excellent form since moving to Sunderland this season, scoring eight goals for his new side. However, he did miss a penalty when Sunderland lost 2-0 at his former club Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Tottenham's Huddlestone scored a blistering goal against Sunderland in the same match and could win his first senior England cap.
Capello has again omitted Michael Owen, even though forwards Emile Heskey and Carlton Cole are out with injuries and Owen's chances of playing in the World Cup finals next year now look slim.
Aston Villa defender Stephen Warnock is also included and has the chance to add to the one cap he won as an 84th minute substitute when England played Trinidad & Tobago in Port of Spain in June last year, but his team-mate Gabriel Agbonlahor misses out.
Capello made several statements during the week warning that he would not consider injured or semi-fit players - something which has counted against James, whose chronic knee injury prevents him from playing more than twice every seven days.
Manchester United's Ben Foster, West Ham's Robert Green and Manchester City's Joe Hart - who is currently on loan at Birmingham City - are the three keepers named.
Other absentees include Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand, Ashley Cole and Aaron Lennon. They are all carrying injuries, apart from Cole who is playing his way back into the Chelsea side after an injury lay-off.
David Beckham is named among the nine midfielders, but will be excused the trip to Doha if LA Galaxy qualify for the MLS Western Conference final.
England squad to face Brazil on 14 November:
Goalkeepers: Ben Foster, Robert Green, Joe Hart.
Defenders: Wayne Bridge, Wes Brown, Gary Cahill, Glen Johnson, Joleon Lescott, John Terry, Matthew Upson, Stephen Warnock.
Midfielders: Gareth Barry, David Beckham*, Michael Carrick, Tom Huddlestone, Jermaine Jenas, Frank Lampard, James Milner, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Ashley Young.
Forwards: Darren Bent, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Wayne Rooney.
*If LA Galaxy win on Sunday evening then David Beckham will be unavailable for selection.

Call me crazy, and I know you will, but Steve Harper shouldn't be over looked for South Africa. There, I've said it, bring on the abuse. lol
Looks like England team seems a bit weak at the top. I would say the match against Brazil won't produce a goal; I mean from the English side. Anyway don't expect a flurry of goals from Brazil either; this is not South Africa yet.
What do you mean "Where's Joe Cole?" WHAT!? he's only just come back from injury, he's not fully fit and he hasn't proved himself? but hopefully he will.
Don't forget right now we've got a lot of injuries and fitness problems. But it's a good side. Not so sure about Gary Cahill. Quality player but Bolton are conceding every game. It doesn't encourage my enthusiasm.
I hope Darren Bent does well if given the chance but I still like Becks

I usually scheck this site for score only, and in last few days I started reading bit of commentary & reports. I can nobeleive BS that most of these reportes are talking about, its like they do not have even 2 btain cells in the head, just nonsense & rubbish. For instance here: how the heck owen is so called "snubbed" when guy can not play for first team more then few minutes every 3-4 games? this logic just blows my mind
MOBOs aint racist, white people win awards in the ceremony. So cant be racist the fact that the music being promoted has its roots from an alternative ethnic source is just a fact not a racits statemet of intent. numpty. Afro carribean clubs??? no go areas? why no go? Cause you feel like a minority? Thats your issue not the clubs.
Dont you just feel sorry for the poor little excuse for a human being as I said before what did Fabio Cappello find out about the PORG (Person Of Restricted Groth) at Real probably every thing we Newcastle Fans found out about him with his time with us over paid Malingarer lazy git, Sick note every body elses fault bar mine Owen.
