Burnley boss Owen Coyle was delighted to see his side collect their first away point of the season at big-spending Manchester City.
The Clarets took a two-goal lead at Eastlands through a Graham Alexander penalty and Steven Fletcher strike but then found themselves 3-2 down.
However, substitute Kevin McDonald rescued a point for the Clarets with three minutes remaining.
"It is a monkey off our backs," said Coyle. "Funnily enough, I felt very comfortable at 2-0. I would have loved to get to half-time in that position.
"We are on a learning curve and if we had been an experienced Premier League team we would have seen it off."
