West Brom boss Roberto Di Matteo insists Gonzalo Jara is capable of playing in the Premier League after the Chile international's first goal for the club helped Albion to a 2-1 win at promotion rivals Leicester.
Jara, a £1.4million signing from Colo Colo, scored with a swerving shot from 30 yards late in the first half to send the Baggies into the break with a two-goal lead after Graham Dorrans had put them in front just three minutes earlier.
Asked if Jara could play at a higher level, Di Matteo said: ``Absolutely. He will be going to the world cup with his nation next summer."
He added: ``I don't know what his best position is yet, maybe ask me at the end of the season. But his versatility is one of the reasons we signed him - to have a player that can play in a number of positions. He can play at centre-back, full-back or as a holding midfielder.''
Former Fox Joe Mattock was roundly booed on his first return to the Walkers Stadium since joining West Brom in the summer, and Di Matteo added: ``He responded fantastically for the whole game. He was very cool in the build-up to the game too.''
