Csaba Laszlo claimed he would be sacked as Hearts boss if he came clean about whether he will be allowed to buy a striker in January.
Laszlo's frustration spilled over after he was forced to watch his goal-shy team fail to find the net for the third straight Clydesdale Bank Premier League game, with Saturday`s Edinburgh derby ending in a 0-0 draw.
Asked if he hoped to be able to buy a frontman when the window re-opens, Laszlo said: "If I give you an answer about this situation, I will not be the coach here tomorrow. This is the truth."
He added: "I can only say again and again and again, if you don't score goals, you don't ever win a game.
"With all my respect also for Christian Nade and Gary Glen and Jamie Mole, they worked well and did what was necessary but we didn't score the goals.
"We had about 11 or 12 corners. This tells you everything."
