Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee was pleased to see Sone Aluko cap his first start since the middle of September with a goal in the 2-1 win against St Johnstone at Pittodrie.
Aluko marked return from the under-20 World Cup in Egypt with a fine solo goal to open the scoring. Liam Craig equalised for the Saints, before Lee Miller netted the winner from the penalty spot.
However, the Nigerian international missed the goal after he was substituted at half-time with a stomach injury, which McGhee hopes will not result in another lengthy absence.
"We felt when Sone came back from his World Cup trip he had lost a lot of fitness and a lot of his edge and it has taken him until now to get that back," said McGhee.
"That goal will have done him a tremendous amount of good for his confidence as long as he recovers quickly from the injury.
"I would tend to think given his reaction to the injury that it wasn't trivial so it is a worry."
