An honest Nigel Pearson held his hands up after seeing his Leicester side well beaten by West Brom at the Walkers Stadium.
Gonzalo Jara scored with a swerving shot from 30 yards late in the first half to send the Baggies into the break with a two-goal lead after Graham Dorrans had put them in front just three minutes earlier.
Albion were made to endure a tense finale after Bruno Berner pulled a goal back for Leicester in injury time, but the Black Country outfit held firm and were worthy winners.
Pearson said: I've got no complaints with the result. They were the better side and they passed the ball very well. We were disappointed that we didn't reproduce the form of our last game at QPR, but you've got to give them some credit as well.
"However, I was delighted with the players in the second half. I thought the work rate and commitment and effort was terrific. We stretched them all the way but the goal right at the end was scant consolation."
Meanwhile, Pearson revealed midfielder Andy King was substituted towards the end of the first half suffering with a suspected broken arm.
