Pearson offers support to Brown

Hull City chairman Adam Pearson will consider giving under-pressure manager Phil Brown a vote of confidence until the end of the season.

Pearson insisted Brown's future will not be decided by "one or two results" and stated that his first instinct is to back the manager who took Hull into the Barclays Premier League.

"We are not talking about a number of games. We are trying to support Phil as much as possible," said Pearson.

"All we can do is keep our heads down, support him and get through it.

"No decision on his future has been made. (Guaranteeing Brown will stay in the job for the season) is something I will talk about.

"Sometimes the pressure gets so great from everybody, from the supporters and the board, for a change that it happens.

"But if you can be strong and dig in then I think it is a decent solution and something worth considering.

"I wouldn't say his job is on the line. There are a whole set of circumstances that need to be considered but it is not just down to one or two games."

Pearson, who has returned to the KC Stadium directors box for the first time since May 2007, is trying to recapture the spirit which saw Hull survive in the top flight last season.

Brown has his eccentricities and hit the headlines last season by giving his side a half-time dressing down out on the pitch and for his karaoke performance when survival had been assured.

  1. Don't you believe it. A chairman's support is a sure sign that the gallows are being built. He's playing for time until he gets Paul Ince's signature.
