Sousa: Swans deserved victory

Swansea manager Paulo Sousa insisted his side thoroughly deserved their 3-2 victory over Cardiff in a fiercely-fought South Wales derby at the Liberty Stadium.

Nathan Dyer and Darren Pratley put the hosts into a commanding position early on before Jay Bothroyd and Bluebirds skipper Mark Hudson levelled matters before half-time. But Pratley volleyed home what turned out to be the winner just after the hour mark to settle an action-packed encounter.

``We played very well, were well organised and showed great energy from the start. We never lost focus and concentrated for the whole game," said Sousa. ``At half-time we knew we had to control the match to win and when we don't make mistakes we know we will win games."

He added: ``We try to start each match positively. Making the right decisions but we have to keep our concentration as we gave away two simple goals. We must work on that to be stronger as a team and that will be our aim as we believe in ourselves.

``Here I have seen what it means to be a supporter of this club.''
