Wenger wants more of the same

Sun, 08 Nov 18:57:35 2009

Arsene Wenger believes Arsenal have the capability of making a strong challenge for the Barclays Premier League title.

The Gunners extended their unbeaten run to 13 games in all competitions with a 4-1 victory against Wolves.

Wenger is keen to get his hands on the title again and said: "The desire is there. We just want to strengthen our belief."

He added: "The most important factor is we play for each other as we do. We have to focus on our performance and continue to develop our style of play.

"We were out of it (the title race) last year after we lost five games in 14. Two years ago, though, we were close to winning it, people forget that. We will keep our humility and play our game.''

Wolves made a bright start but were undone by own goals from Ronald Zubar and Jody Craddock.

Cesc Fabregas and Andrey Arshavin extended their lead before Craddock scored for the second time, at the right end.

It means they keep the pressure on Chelsea and Manchester United who meet on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.

Wenger will not read too much into the scoreline between Chelsea and United - and does not rule out Liverpool to restore their challenge.

He said: "It is too early to calculate too much. Sunday is fantastic for us. Let's hope it is a good game and you enjoy it. You always enjoy a game when you have won. Also, I would not discount Liverpool at the moment, even though they have lost five games. Now everyone has lost two, so there is a difference between now and last year."

When you have one of the best managers in the world you have to trust His judgement that is why he is paid for. Us fans can only guess at it as we are bystanders i have never believed in slating Arsene, his vision was right on 2007 and its now begining to prove his point I still think he will beef up the squad in new year but it wont cost multi millions If you pay for a name [Lets use Add your barn door]look what you get a prima donna who thinks he is good thinking it never won it .

  11. Arsenal are going strong, and with the momentum they are building it looks as if they are strong contenders. Chelsea and Man U are still the teams to beat, but I feel that this is the strongest Arseanl team for at least 5 years and have a very good chance of winning something, at last!
