Torquay manager Paul Buckle hailed hat-trick hero Nicky Wroe after he fired them to a 3-1 victory over 10-man Cheltenham in the first round of the FA Cup.
Theo Lewis headed Cheltenham in front before two Wroe penalties in the space of nine first-half minutes and Lee Ridley's dismissal turned the tie on its head.
Wroe made it three in the 70th minute and Buckle said: "I'm delighted with Nicky. We're encouraging him to shoot more. He showed his ability with an excellent finish for the third goal and he showed he's a confident boy with the penalties."
He added: "In the second half, once we got the ball wide, we opened them up time and time again. We had to be organised and defend well but after that we counter attacked and hit the post twice as well.
"In the second half we produced some good wing play, lots of chances, and it was really good for the public to watch. The FA Cup is massive, we've build a good reputation over recent seasons and we're desperate to do well again."
