Zola puts faith in "special" Green

Coach Gianfranco Zola is hoping Robert Green will once again demonstrate why he is England's first choice goalkeeper when West Ham look for their second successive home win against Everton.

Green's penalty save from Ashley Young straight after half-time helped pave the way for a last-minute winner from Zavon Hines as Zola's side beat Aston Villa 2-1 in midweek to lift them out of the bottom three.

Green will make his 100th successive start for the Hammers against Everton and Zola believes the England goalkeeper is something special.

"Robert Green gave a really good display against Villa and made one of those saves that will probably be the save of the season," said Zola.

"I was particularly pleased for him and he is such an important player for us. To see him in such form is good for everybody.

"He showed again why he is the number one for England with some miracle saves and it says everything about him that he has played 99 games in a row for this club. He is something special."
