Serie A - Cannavaro nears new Napoli deal
Napoli captain Paolo Cannavaro is close to agreeing a new contract with the club according to his agent.
Cannavaro, who is the younger brother of World Cup winning captain Fabio, has played a key role in moving Napoli up to fourth in the Serie A table.
However, he has been at odds with the club's president Aurelio De Laurentiis who had told him to 'go and join in his brother in Dubai.'
Now though, things seem to be sorting themselves out and his agent Gaetano Fedele told Marte Sport Live: "Paolo's renewal is close. The last meeting with Napoli gave us lots of reasons to hope for the good.
"He is a good footballer who is doing well in his city. His objective is that of finishing his career at Napoli.
"He has the confidence of his coach and the club."
The 29-year-old has been at Napoli since 2006. He has been called up by the national team before but has yet to win a cap for the Azzurri.
