Jamie Clarke hailed "a great win" as Grimsby moved to within two games of a Johnstone's Paint Trophy final at Wembley with a win at Stockport.Clarke opened the scoring in the northern area semi-final with a fierce 35-yard drive and although Anthony Pilkington equalised two minutes later, Hatters captain Michael Raynes sliced the winner into his own net 11 minutes from time.

Clarke said: "It's a great win because Stockport are flying.

"They have had a few good results lately and obviously we have had a good little run, so we are obviously two in-form sides.

"They put a strong side out, we put a strong side out, and I'm just delighted that we won."

On his opener Clarke added: "The conditions were a little bit windy so the gaffer told us to have as many shots as we could. It was the power that beat him. The keeper did his best, but just couldn't stop it."
