Crewe head coach Steve Holland hopes to bring a new striker to Gresty Road by the end of the week.The Railwaymen have made a "substantial" offer for an unnamed player, which will be discussed by the club's board on Friday with a decision then expected to be made.

Holland has also lined up another striker, and says he is in negotiation with the other club's manager.

Holland told the club's official website: "Our faxed offer is still very much on the table and we will just have to wait and see if it is accepted or not.

"Meanwhile, we are continuing our search and have had a conversation with another manager about the possibility of signing another striker.

"That is at a more advanced stage and we remain hopeful that something could materialise there if our bid is accepted."
