Bradford's joint-chairman Mark Lawn has hit back at Morecambe manager Sammy McIlroy in the row over Shrimps winger Garry Thompson. The Bantams made an offer of £10,000 for Thompson, who is out of contract in the summer, which McIlroy described as a "joke".
McIlroy said: "It's a derisory offer for one of our key players. To be perfectly honest, it's ludicrous for a player of Garry's experience and potential."
But Lawn responded by pointing out Morecambe had recently signed Shrewsbury's Stuart Drummond for a similar fee.
Lawn told the Telegraph & Argus: "Morecambe have just paid £15,000 for the captain of Shrewsbury, so I wouldn't be up to making derogatory statements like that.
"We made an offer for one of their players and they turned it down. It happens all the time in football and I don't see why he needs to scream and shout about it."
