Ajax Keen On Landzaat

Wed 09 Jan, 08:10 PM

Ajax have made a move for Wigan midfielder Denny Landzaat.

The Amsterdam giants are keen to take Landzaat back to Holland and have admitted to make an approach for the 31-year-old.

Ajax are now seeing whether they can broker a deal to take him to the Amsterdam Arena.

"I am a little scared about the salary Denny earns in England, but we would gladly bring him to Ajax," said Ajax's technical director Martin van Geel

"What concerns me more is the time. Perhaps we could set up a loan deal with the possibility of a permanent move in the summer."

Landzaat's agent Sigi Lens admits he knows of Ajax's interest but denied a deal was in place.

"It is not correct (that a deal has been done)," Lens told Voetbal International.

"Denny is happy to be playing in such a beautiful competition, but that does not mean that Ajax is not attractive."

Meanwhile, one player staying at Ajax until the summer at least is striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

The Dutch international, who has been watched by Manchester United and Arsenal in the past, is being closely followed by Juventus.

"My dream is to play in a big side and Juventus are so. We will see what will happens," he said.

Huntelaar admits he wants to be playing in Spain, England or Italy.

"They are really three good leagues. I hope to have few requests to be able choose the best one," he said.

"Now I'm an Ajax player, where I feel good, but I don't know where I will be next season."
